Nieves 25th anniversary wasanbon sugars in collaboration with DORSIA.

Wasanbon is a traditional Japanese sugar from Shikoku, made by hand from rare sugarcane and known for its soft, delicate sweetness that melts on the tongue. The wasanbon for this project is by Mitani Seito, a long-established maker in Kagawa with over a century of history. Often paired with matcha, it also works beautifully with coffee, adding depth without overpowering.

DORSIA is a kissaten (Japanese café) with locations in Kobe and Takamatsu, run by Ryuma Fukuda with art direction by Masanao Hirayama. It brings together coffee, desserts, and a distinct visual identity, selling exclusive items available at the café and online.

Nieves was founded in 2001 with the idea of releasing artists' zines as a publisher, supporting artistic visions and creating affordable, carefully made, and globally distributed publications. Over the years over four hundred artists have contributed to its ever-growing list of titles. In 2026, Nieves marks its 25th anniversary.

Coinciding with the release is the zine Takamatsu by Masanao Hirayama and a drawings exhibition at DORSIA in Takamatsu, April 21 to May 10, 2026.
